HDR (High Dynamic Range) displays — now standard on premium phones, laptops, and TVs — can display colors outside the sRGB color space that most designers use. This creates a gap between what designers specify and what users see, particularly on Apple devices using the P3 color space. Understanding HDR color is no longer optional for product designers; the displays are mainstream, and the color artifacts from ignoring them are visible on a significant share of devices.
